New Month - New Adventures

Updated: May 25, 2023

Good evening, I hope you are all well.

Monday 1st May, 2023 I love it when months start on Monday!

Other than a few anniversaries namely "The Black Weekend" (Imola 1994), my parent's wedding anniversary and me passing my driving test (2019) it was a very quiet weekend.

Tuesday 2nd May, 2023

On the 2nd May, I wrote my Year In Review for January - May (5 months), raced at Silverstone in the QRT Series (finished 8th in class)

To date, I've finished in:

R1, Oran: 6th (4th until shunt)

R2, Silverstone: 8th

R3, Oulton: 9th

R4, Jerez: 9th (Had contact/spin whilst in race-long battle) R5, Charlotte Road: 2nd

R6, Hockenheim: TBC!

Thursday 4th May, 2023

Swiftly skipping onto Star Wars Day, I partook in the Prologue of the VRG (Virtual Racing Group) "GT4 Tour" league in which I was invited along to the series to take some screenshots of the racing action (I took screenshots of the RSE Clio Cup Series - and someone liked these)

Friday 5th May, 2023

About 6 months after I initially started learning to drive manual, I kicked my ass into gear (no pun intended) and booked a driving lesson for the following week.

After my driving instructor took a Christmas break, we were both next properly available in February - and then my priorities switched slightly (from driving lessons to visiting friends)

But in May, after my calendar calmed slightly, I continued on where I left off and had an incredibly positive lesson on 9th May - I don't want to jinx anything, but being mid-spring/early summer - I think there's a POSSIBILITY of passing before the end of the year - or at least quicker than I took to get my automatic licence (15 months/1 Year, 3 Months)

Saturday 6th May, 2023

As the king was coronated, I was headed to a mate's house.

We organised to see racing at Brands Hatch tomorrow - but due to me having to drive from my house, to his, onwards to Brands, we thought it was best fit if I headed to his house on the day before.

We'd watch qualifying for the Miami Grand Prix which was very close.

Sunday 7th May, 2023

Sunday was probably my most enjoyable day of the year as I attended the BTCC at Brands Hatch - featuring Mini's, Porsche 911 Cups (992's) and Legends.

Sure, GT3's would complete the package - but the weather was absolutely with us that day - and the racing was absolutely incredible too - I just wanted a go (in the Mini's).

Upon getting back, I noticed it was too late to get back to the Isle Of Wight - so I stayed overnight - watching the Miami Grand Prix and then a horror film (Smile) to finish off the night.

The following day (Monday) I returned to the Isle Of Wight.

It was an absolutely wild motorsport weekend with Formula E at Monaco

BTCC at Brands Hatch and the Formula One at Miami.

In addition to this British GT was at Silverstone - which we did consider attending.

Ironically, (unbeknownst to me) in 2022, I also attended the BTCC at Brands Hatch (alone).

On iRacing - it was quite an interesting weekend too with the 6hr GTE series going to Imola (favourite circuit of mine) and the Michelin Pilot Challenge heading to the Nurburgring Nordschliefe...good practice for the upcoming Nurburgring 24 Hours!)

Tuesday 9th May, 2023

On Tuesday, I had my first driving lesson in about 5 months - followed by Universal Credit on Wednesday.

That weekend was the iRacing Nurburgring 24 Hours - which, quite honestly, was one to forget - but it started well, and we had potential - just got taken out by a GT3 or 3.

Thanks for reading

December Re-Cap

December 2023 Aside from missing a few days of "Blog A Day" (managed 13/25), 2023 ended exactly as I wanted to - on a high - or well, mostly on a high. The first two weeks of December were absolute ch
