December Re-Cap

December 2023

Aside from missing a few days of "Blog A Day" (managed 13/25), 2023 ended exactly as I wanted to - on a high - or well, mostly on a high.

The first two weeks of December were absolute chaos with back-to-back 24 Hour races on the weekends of the 2nd - 3rd December and 9th - 10th December.

Kicking off December, it was the Motorsport UK Britcar 24 Hours - I was pumped to finally get involved in a Motorsport UK event...but sadly something cropped up last minute and I wasn't able race/attend.

Between 5th - 11th December it was Week 13 - I raced in the Battle Of The Small Wings series which featured the Lotus 79 (I unusual for it to make an appearance), Formula 3 (car I was in) and Formula 4.

I ended Week 13 with 1 sole podium (2nd) after being given many opportunities,

but always making mistakes.

Week 13 was wild and quite rightly got its own blog.

That week also marked the 5th anniversary of the Formula 3 coming to iRacing

On Friday (8th) of Week 13, it marked 3 years of the Lamborghini Huracan GT3 being on the service.

Finishing off Week 13 on the weekend of the 9th - 10th December was the Jimmy Broadbent 23hrs Zolder - which started well...before I got in, and got the team a drive-through penalty for speeding in the pits (on my outlap!)

Competition was tough and we managed to finish 8th after starting 13th and last in class - only arriving back on the island with a few hours to spare, it was another close call - no, I wasn't starting, but I almost missed the start of the race.

December was relentless, the following week, I went to The Netherlands with two friends of mine. (14th - 18th Dec.)

On the 15th December (whilst abroad) it marked 1 Year of me starting manual lessons.

December sort of imploded from here - friendships were tested (due to my own actions) topped with me losing my laptop. It wasn't a good time.

In the FalkenTyre Sports Car Challenge, Round 1 went VERY well with a 8th place finish at Monza (no first chicane)

In Round 2, I severely under-fuelled the car - and with my lost laptop still fresh on my mind, Twin Ring Motegi was absolutely a race to forget.

But enough doom and gloom.

In the final week of 2023 I managed to:

  • Visit Beaulieu Motor Museum (I had been wanting to go for at least the past 6 months) (14th Dec.)

  • Wrapped up racing/had final race of the year

  • Wrapped up all my Blogs for the new year (see below)

  • Completed my: iRacing Year In Review, (regular) (23rd Dec.)

  • Even managed to write a 2024 preview (Dec. 23rd)

  • Dig deep into my watch-list and tick off Gran Turismo (Movie) and Meg 2 (Dec. 29th & 30th)

  • Completed Kabort's Year In Pictures (to ABSOLUTELY NO Reaction)

With everything wrapped up and 2023 done and dusted, I was more than ready to fire into the New Year - all I needed now was a VK Passionfruit and Orange!
