It was a tough day for Kabort Motorsport. Of three entries into the Six hours at Barcelona, only two finished this rough and tough endurance in the beautiful country of Spain.
Our LMP1 team, which was made up of Declan Eady (CAN), Nicholas Boccanfuso (USA) and Aitor Sintes-Glindo (ESP), were poised for success as they Qualified 3rd overall, and 3rd in class. An incident on lap 4 led to their car being towed back to the pits and suffered from numerous damages. Of which caused their car to lose significant pace. Unfortunately, after only 52 laps on the circuit, the vehicle could no longer compete and the team eventually retired from the race.
Kabort Ferrari Black was comprised of Dave South ( GBR/Wales), Daniel Newell (USA), Jermaine Warren (USA) and Marcel Van Den Berg (NTL). Qualifying 18th and 9th in class, Team Black had great chances for early advancements and eventually ended up in 17th.
Kabort Ferrari Gold was comprised of Shaw Syska (USA), Gas Cohen (SA), Robin Truswell (GBR) and Joseph Griffin (USA). Qualifying 26th overall and 17th in class, Team Gold had pace to swallow up many positions but thick traffic and several early-on collisions caused significant damage and the team were forced to pit for repairs. After numerous issues throughout the race, Syska drove her home, finishing 27th overall.
Although it was a tough day for the team, they look forward to their next race at historical Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, in the iRacing Endurance Le Mans Series ‘Six hours at Spa’ on October 13th, 2019. Only one question remains though...Will The LMP1 suffer another non-finish....or is it time to get some serious points on the table? Find out in a fortnight as we hit the Ardenne Forest in Belgium!
We hope to see you there! Barcelona, ELMS - Week 2
